July 17, 2013 – (right) Tahj Mason, 9th grader at Whitehaven High School, preps his plane for take off with instructor (left) Miles Alexander at DeWitt Spain Airport before a flying lesson from the Aviation Career Education Camp hosted by Woodale High School. 50 students participated in a week-long camp that exposed them to numerous careers in the aviation industry. Besides flying in planes provided by Downtown Aviation, students toured FedEx, operated flight simulators, climbed aboard a C-17 aircraft at the TN Air National Guard, toured the Huntsville Space Center, and built and launched model rockets.
