November 24, 2013 – Sterling Williams hammers in markers representing the 3,423 people in Shelby County who have died from AIDS at Greater Lewis Street Missionary Baptist Church in preparation of World AIDS Day on December 1st. Greater Lewis Street Missionary Baptist Church teamed up with First Baptist Church of Memphis to set up the memorial on the church properties at the corner of Poplar and East Parkway. The event a two-week period focusing on the impact of HIV/AIDS in the Mid-South. The markers will remain on display until December 7th. (Kyle Kurlick/Special to The Commercial Appeal)
