December 19, 2013 – (center, top) Delores Posata holds onto her son (center, bottom) Ulises Posata while they and her daughter (right), Yatzyry Posata, while visiting Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Catholic Charities office on Jefferson. Posata is an illegal immigrant from Mexico who has been granted a humanitarian parole to stay in the U.S. and care for her son while he undergoes treatment for leukemia at St. Jude for the next year and a half. On limited resources, Posata juggles the process of making sure her parole is renewed every 90 days while taking care of Ulises and Yatzyry, who are U.S. citizens. Posata had to leave behind two older children in Mexico while she watches over Ulises and Yatzyry in Memphis. (Kyle Kurlick/Special to The Commercial Appeal)
